I absolutely love Milky bars. I’m mowing down on some of Iberica’s toffees that my host mother sent me today. Wish she had sent me Milky bars. Or Princesa bars–those are good too.

I lived in Peru for two and a half years, and Milkys are by far my fave. I’m usually a dark chocolate kinda guy, but that very high cocoa content made me rethink milk chocolate. If anyone runs into a way to get them in the US, please let me know. I am slowly nibbling away my stash!

I’ve been there a couple of times too..its just awesome!! One of the best chocolate buffets or even high-tea buffet in Bkk, in my opinion!

Actually, it IS milk chocolate, its just that it has a cocoa content of about 50%, whereas the vast majority of milk chocolate out there is only about 30% cocoa. there dark chocolate is called “fondant” and its about 70% cocoa. regardless, its the best chocolate ive ever had anywhere, especially the “hojuelas” bar, which is la iberica’s answer to the crunch bar…except they use corn flakes instead of rice krispies. And, while im generally not a white chocolate fan, la iberica’s white chocolate bars are sublime. i used to live within walking distance of two of their stores and i never got tired of it. in fact, i just came back from a vacation in arequipa with boxes of milky in hand, and a friend of mine is already asking me how she can get her hands on more of the stuff.

That chocolate is THE BEST OF THE BEST. I always ask my friends to bring me some (I live in Australia).
You should also try the MASAPANES, they are sublime.

Oh man, I LOVE the hot chocolate in Barcelona! I know what you mean, it’s like drinking hot pudding. Did you visit the chocolate museum there? It’s in a very weird and sketchy area but I really wanted to go so we somehow found it but I don’t recommend walking there at night. Yum!

OH my God! I have been debating on whether to do this or not because some chocolate “buffets” can be so ordinary but after reading your post, I will definitely do it! We leave in a couple of weeks and both me and my husband are chocolate fanatics. Thanks for the great detailed post and advice!
